I'm currently working two jobs - full time for a software company and teaching a class at the local university. My wife and I also have a 4 week old daughter. After a long day at work, I got to come home to this:

Gotta take those moments while you have them. I hear they go by way too quickly.

Those moments go WAY TOO FAST. When my daughter was born I had some time off. I felt like I was THERE for all of it. But when I went back to work, and then I'd come home...I felt like I missed out on things. They grow so fast as first. It's scary.

That's what I'm afraid of.

I wish I had a job where I could work from home. That, or be independently wealthy and work for the fun of it, but still be there as much as possible.

Don't sweat it. When they are that young you feel like you need to be there for every moment. But it's all in your head. Time is your concept, not theirs.

You're doing fine. Not need to change to a "at home" job. Just make every moment that you are together MATTER

Yeah, it's the best thing ever. It does go fast. I can't believe my daughter is already two years old. Just keep savoring it, more great stuff is coming!

I work from home more often than not in my job, and when I do go into the office my 4 yr old daughter gets quietly upset that I couldn't be there to wake her up. Her entire life I've been working from home most days so I am around all the time. Now obviously working from home, she knows I can't see her much during the day; but she knows I'm home and knows that I'm near by. It is a great feeling, but ultimately as long your child knows they are wanted and loved, there is very little to improve upon.

That part is good...but it gets better. I have two kids and I'd say their individuality and personality became more apparent starting at 1.5 years. Baby girl is now 2.1 years and the boy is 11 years. Baby girl is getting into everything now, so inquisitive and making messes;-but that's ok because she wants to learn.

Mrs. BaconSandwich and I are really looking forward to being smiled at - without it being gas.

It will happen, and you will melt into a big gushy puddle, and all will be right in the world.
